About Lina Zachari
Born in 1999 in Heraklion, Crete, she studied Composition at the Athens Conservatoire, graduating with a Diploma in Composition with Distinction (First Prize) and a special award in memory of Dimitris Dragatakis. She is currently continuing her composition studies in the postgraduate program (MMus in Composition) at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague. She holds diplomas in Piano and Advanced Music Theory.
Among her works, the chamber opera Charlotte: an operOtic monodrama stands out — staged at the Alternative Stage of the Greek National Opera in 2024.
She has collaborated with institutions such as the Alternative Stage of the Greek National Opera, the Athens State Orchestra, the National Theatre of Greece, the Musica Sacra Festival in Maastricht, the Municipal Theatre of Ioannina (DI.PE.THE.), the Center for Contemporary Music Research, the Drama School of the National Theatre, the Drama School of the Athens Conservatoire, the Lyric Theatre of Crete, the Chania Chamber Music Festival, the Friends of Music Society of the Athens Concert Hall, the Crete Festival, the Olympus Festival, the vocal ensemble Chórεs, the Heraklion Piano Festival, and the Third Programme of Greek National Radio, among others.
She has participated in workshops including the Young Composers Workshop (2021, Alternative Stage of the Greek National Opera) with Greek-American composer George Tsontakis, the Pilot Contemporary Music Workshop of the Athens State Orchestra (2024, Anargyrios and Korgialenios School of Spetses), and the New Ideas – New Creators Workshop (2025, Experimental Stage of the National Theatre of Greece).
As a pianist, she has studied at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, as well as at Boston University and the New England Conservatory in Boston.
She is a founding member of the music theatre group Arte Libera, dedicated to producing and promoting original contemporary music-theatre projects free from aesthetic dogmatism.
She teaches Advanced Music Theory and Composition at the Athaeneum Conservatory in Athens.
She is a regular member of the Greek Composers Union.
